5 Reasons to do a Glamour Shoot
Glamour means enchantment and excitement. For years the term Glamour Photography was polarizing because people immediately thought of soft focus and feather boas from the late 80’s/ early 90’s. That is not what Glamour Photography is today.
Glamour isn’t about age, shape, or size. You don’t have to be pretty to have it. Anyone can create it.-Dita Von Tesse
Contemporary Glamour is like you being the celebrity for a day and having a magazine style of photoshoot. We allow multiple outfit changes and provide professional hair and makeup. My makeup artist stays on set to assist and change up your look, if you want. Maybe you want to add a bold lip for a different outfit or add a braid or updo or wave to your hair.
We offer multiple looks because we are multifaceted people. You may want to have a casual look, a sexy look, a glamorous look, a business look, or maybe there is something unique you want to capture if you are a dancer or recently I did a full equestrian look as the final outfit.
This is all about celebrating who you are through portraits.
And during a pandemic, we need something to look forward to, to feel special or to even feel normal. To put on makeup, a bra and leave your house is exciting these days!
Let’s bring it to another level. Here are 5 reasons to do a Contemporary Glamour Shoot.
Embrace your Femininity.
Most women exude femininity and sexiness even if we don’t always feel that way. Sometimes we shelve things for a season. There are many reasons we do that. Maybe we choose to focus on career or being a mom or we’ve been married for so long we forgot how to flirt. These things exist in us always and never go away; sometimes we just need someone to bring it out and remind us of it. Playing dress up and getting your hair and makeup done is the ultimate girl’s day out and the most fabulous way to express, embrace and reconnect to that magical feminine energy. Remember your energy is what is so beautiful.
Celebrate all the parts of yourself that make you the woman you are today.
A lot of us are business women, moms, wives, sisters, daughters and best friends to others. That means we have a professional side, a sexy side, a loving and nurturing side and there’s a whole lot of people that are really important to us. A shoot where you have multiple outfits allows you to express all the different facets of who you are.
Be Your Own Avatar.
So often we look at others to be our idol and to be the image and vision we strive to be. Why do we look outside of ourselves for this. We should be our own avatar or idol! I’ve had women look at images of themselves and say “I don’t know who that is, but that’s a badass woman right there.” What if you had gorgeous images that embodied the characteristics that you strive to live by or want to bring out. What if reflected back to you was you and you looked like a goddess, a badass, confident sexy woman. What if you looked at an image of yourself and said that’s who I want to be. That is 100 times more powerful than looking at someone else wishing to have their life.
Take time to feel.
Portraits are all about connection and that is one of my highest values. Connection is the energy that exists between people when they feel seen, heard, and valued; when they can give and receive without judgment. That is the space we hold for our clients in my studio. Because, so often in life we don’t feel heard or seen. As women, we are natural givers and nurturers. We often put others' needs before our own especially if we have a family. Mom’s are always last on the care for list. Because of this, we may not feel seen. And, we are hardwired for this connection. It’s in our biology. From the time we are born, we need connection to thrive emotionally, physically, spiritually, and intellectually. When we don’t feel those things it can take a toll on us emotionally and mentally. Do something special for yourself for a couple of hours and it will empower you and lift you up in ways you would have never imagined.
Existing in Photographs.
Photography is evidence we exist in this world. Our lives are meaningful and worth celebrating. We know that photographs will outlive us. We know they last longer than 100 years. And one day, your children and the people that love you will go looking for images of you, and what will they find? We women, are the worst about hiding from the camera. I hear some form of this all the time, “not me, the kids”. Or, “it’s just from the waist up, right?” If you hide from a camera whether that be a professional camera or a cell phone camera, where else are you hiding? This is your legacy. This is you one beautiful life and it’s meant to be captured and cherished.
