Happy News Podcast Interview
I had such a great time being interviewed by Anna-Vija on the Happy News Group podcast where I talked about the special photography art project I completed for the Nashville Breast Cast Gallery, through Keep A Breast Foundation. The podcast shares inspiring stories of individuals going above and beyond to positively impact their communities.
How to cultivate Self Love.
Check out my talk on Self Love.
For me, Self Love comes down to your own well being and happiness which I believe can be achieved through gratitude and acceptance.
I’ve been photographing women for 10 years. I’ve had very intimate conversations with women about their careers, love, and body image.
We have a tendency to think that I can have happiness when….
Thank You | 2020 Faves
I’m beyond grateful to the clients that I had the opportunity to capture and connect with in 2020 as well as the art I created. Check out this short video to see a snapshot.
10 Ways to Manage Stress
It’s the most wonderful time of the year….and the most stressful. But who are we kidding, all of 2020 has been stressful. It has brought a lot of uncertainty, loss of the way life was, and maybe even loss of someone close to you by a breakup, divorce, or even death. Someone very close to me died in October and it’s hard. Sometimes stress and grief go hand-in-hand. So let’s talk about stress and tools to manage it. I’ve learned to manage stress as a small business owner, as a survivor of a near-fatal car wreck, and surviving a very toxic relationship.
The Seeker - Artwork Spotlight
THE SEEKER. That's what I named this artwork. It is the seeker, who understands there is more than what meets the eye; who is not afraid; and who makes the choice to go into the unknown. She understands that going into uncertainty creates discomfort but that is where the growth begins.
We’re doing a Black Friday Sale.
Get excited, I’m having a Black Friday Sale! I don’t normally do these, but this has been one hell of a year and if you’re reading this that means you survived it. We may not even be the same person we were at the beginning of 2020. We have lived through something that no one could predict, and well I think that’s worth celebrating so I’m having a BIG sale.
Why Mom Needs to Exist in Photographs
A long time ago, I changed how I did family photos and I made it about the moms. Mom comes in to get hair and makeup, to take time for her to be seen and heard and then the family comes at the end. I did this because I often heard “not me, just the kids” or “I’m always taking the pictures” or “I need to lose weight.”
I cannot say this enough, photography is evidence you exist in this world. It represents your legacy.
Here are 5 Reasons why Mom needs to Exist in Photographs:
Client Spotlight - Jenny Kemp Watson
The heart of my shoots are to create a safe place for my clients to feel seen, heard and beautiful. We are multifaceted people and have different aspects of ourselves. Some we show to people and some we do not. And some we don’t even see in ourselves but others do. It is my job to bring it all out, capture and show it back to you.
Jenny is from my home town. It was such an honor to reconnect with her; to hold space for her to be vulnerable and reconnect with herself.
Breast Cancer Awareness Art Project
October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, and I have had the honor for the past 7 weeks to work on a beautiful art project called KAB Breast Cast to raise awareness and money for breast cancer through the Keep A Breast Foundation. I casted myself (pictured here) and I photographed all 86 casts and the Castees with their cast. It was one of those beautiful projects that fills you up and brings so much joy. I feel so grateful because this is the coolest Art project ever for women and Breast Cancer Awareness. Check out all the beautiful artwork and portraits in this blog!
5 Reasons to do a Glamour Shoot
“Glamour is not about age, shape, or size. You don’t have to be pretty to have it. Anyone can create it.” - Dita Von Tesse
Contemporary Glamour is like you being the celebrity for a day and having a magazine style of photoshoot. We allow multiple outfit changes and provide professional hair and makeup. My makeup artist stays on set to assist and change up your look, if you want. Maybe you want to add a bold lip for a different outfit or add a braid or updo or wave to your hair.
5 Reasons You Need a Personal Branding Session
Personal Branding sessions are a more elaborate headshot session with multiple looks for the various platforms where your brand or personal brand is represented. It comes down to what do you want people to think, see and feel when they look at your image: power, approachability, confidence, leadership, or all of the above. It comes down to what do you want your pictures to say about you in your branding.
Goal Setting for Personal Success
I was one of those people that would put my goals “out there” and expect them to happen. That’s only part of the equation. In this blog post, I’m going to share with you 5 reasons goals matter, how to set goals, and how to manifest those goals into reality.

Product Spotlight - The Legacy Folio Box
The main product in my studio for the package options is the Legacy Folio Box. This folio box holds the Print Collection you purchase. I call it a legacy folio box because it holds the professional prints that are matted and ready for framing, and those prints become part of your legacy for the rest of time.
Client Spotlight: Mother/Daughter Session with Laura and Grace
Mother/ daughter sessions are some of my favorite sessions because it becomes all about creating the time and space for them to connect and celebrate each other.
After being quarantined for 3 months, it was time to get out of the house and feel special; to feel anything really. I mean just one moment of feeling normal feels good these days!
Studio is Open | New Guidelines | COVID-19
Covid-19 shut us down briefly but my studio is open and in full service! We have quietly been working in the studio since June 1st, and I thought I should update you on the new guidelines while we try to get back to normalcy whatever that looks like and whenever that will be. Here’s what you need to know.
Please stay safe and healthy!
Why Black Lives Matter (Now and Always Have)
B.R.O.K.E.N. is the name of this artwork that I created in 2015. I hesitated to use this image as it was originally created about a broken heart, not a broken system. It also looks violent but it is really meant to express beauty in darkness;
to express, once cracked open we can heal.
Here's the truth about our country -
Photography as a Gift
“What gifts can I get my loved ones to show them how much they mean to me?” Perfect gifts are the things or moments that can be cherished for a long time and match to the person whom you are giving it to. Why not consider thinking out of the box and who knows you might also love it too.
Four Generations
Capturing FOUR generations of women is something very special.
I always say that photography is evidence we exist in this world. Photos help us reminisce and form a concept of an individual by looking back to the photos and sharing it with the new generations. It also gives a representation of the memories from that day.
LadyLike Leaders Summit: Recap
Earlier this month I had the honor of speaking at the Lady Like Leaders Women’s Symposium,
Lady Up + Don’t Quit.
If you weren't able to attend, I'd still love the chance to share the highlights from my talk. Enjoy!
Why You Deserve more than a Selfie
Selfies. It’s so crazy to think that the term “selfie” has only been in use for about 10 years. Fast forward to 2019 and they’re everywhere! Social media, advertisements, wallpapers on our phones, computers, and tablets…you name it, selfies are there.
So, how can we make all the selfie more memorable and really show the real you? Here are just a few reasons you deserve more than a selfie.
